“Sundozer Has Us In Awe With His Latest Single, “100 Lives”
After impressing us with his single “Evergreen” earlier this month, he debuts on our pages with his latest single “100 Lives”. Laced with a slumberous atmosphere of pop melodies, “100 Lives” brings all the nostalgia. From the arpeggios to the overall soundscape, every detail about this song is exceptional. If you didn’t know who Sundozer was before today, then you can thank me later.”
“Sundozer is quickly amassing a collection of great songs, not to mention great musicians in their line-up; the newest singles feature Danny Reisch on percussion. Speaking of those new tracks, they’re taking their gloomy post-punk tones and spinning them in this glittery pop fashion. On “Charmed,” the bass bubbles as these little shimmering crystals fall into your ears. I love how the project keeps the mood circling about here, whilst still capable of kicking in some energy around those quick little jangles. One of my favorite ATX acts, so keep an ear out.”
““Never Easy,” a summer jangle pop stunner, locks down a retro feel while still remaining ultra-modern and fresh with the reverb soaked vocals; “Evergreen,” on the other hand, has more of an emphasis on texture, given the moodier synths and heavy choral vocals, as well as the nearly three-dimensional guitar melodies. While each stands alone on their own, both tracks hearken towards an overall feeling of hope and nostalgia – looking towards the future and the past, simultaneously. ”
““Charmed” is drenched in 80s melancholy and elements of new wave, with a reflective and emotive nature, paired well with gothic tones and guitar work. A slick and well produced effort that delivers a colorful and magnetic aura and mystique.”
““We’re not getting any younger,” the vocals admit prior to the gorgeous chorus, exuding trying aspirations amidst lush guitar spurts and glistening background keys. The calming verses follow with a seamless cohesion. A gently absorbing bridge, with a shimmering backing synth and gentle bass pushes, carries into a blissful conclusion. Sundozer thoroughly impresses with “Charmed.” ”
“Sundozer’s sound seems reminiscent of bands like Real Estate and Wild Nothing, but there’s an unmistakable uniqueness to “Charmed”. Perhaps it’s the blend of the sunny Texas ambiance combined with the indie rock sensibilities, or perhaps it’s just the magic of Christian Luis French’s songwriting and production, but the track definitely stands out.
In all, “Charmed” is more than just another indie rock song; it’s an exploration, a journey, and an invitation. An invitation to dance under the sun, to reflect in its afterglow, and to find one’s own charm amidst the myriad of life’s complexities. Sundozer, with this track, proves once again that music can be both a delightful escape and a mirror to the soul.”
